Development Players League Soccer Tournament Concludes
with Resounding Success In Colorado Springs
The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation (Sports Corp) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the Development Players League (DPL) Spring Showcase 2024, which took place from May 3 to May 5 at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. This premier event brought together 208 of the most talented U15-U19 girls’ soccer teams from across the nation. 3,400 players and over 7,000 total attendees traveled to Colorado Springs for this event resulting in an estimate of over 14,000 hotel room nights.
The tournament, hosted amidst the scenic backdrop of Colorado Springs, saw an impressive display of skill, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit. Female teams battled it out on the field, showcasing their abilities in front of a host of college scouts and coaches, providing a platform for the next generation of soccer stars to shine.
“We are thrilled with the level of competition and talent that was on display at this year’s DPL Spring Showcase,” said Elle Marks of Elite Tournaments. “The event not only provided an opportunity for these young athletes to compete at a high level but also to be recognized by colleges and universities. It’s a steppingstone towards a bright future in soccer for many of these players. Thank you to the City of Colorado Springs and the Air Force Academy for serving as incredible hosts.”
Sports Corp would like to extend its gratitude to the Air Force Academy, the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation, the participating teams, coaches, families, and all the volunteers who made this event a resounding success. A special thanks to Elite Tournaments and their staff for organizing such a large event.
As the DPL continues to foster the growth and development of female youth soccer, we look forward to hosting many more events that celebrate the sport and its young aspirants in Colorado Springs. For more information about the DPL and upcoming events, please visit our website.
